Heavy rain and strong winds impacted parts of Marion County late Sunday. The KNIA/KRLS severe weather action team was on the air just before 10 p.m. for a Severe Thunderstorm Warning. We had a team of three on the air in Knoxville and Pella and our trained weather spotters provided reports from the field. We received reports of winds in excess of 50 mph in Pleasantville and winds near 70 mph near Monroe. Another risk of severe thunderstorms is expected in the late in the day today. The biggest threats will be heavy rainfall causing flash flooding, strong winds, and large hail. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team is monitoring the current weather situation.
