Shortly after 3:30 Thursday afternoon, multiple agencies were dispatched to a single-car rollover accident in the 2000 block of Highway G46, east of Knoxville. Deputy DJ Reed, with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office tells KNIA KRLS News that a 23 year old Pella woman had rolled her car on the curve, stating a “loss of steering input” as the cause for loss of control. Deputy Reed said there were no skid marks to indicate braking on the curve, and it appeared that the car rolled 3-4 times, which deployed both side curtain airbags. He says the driver was transported by Clay Township Fire and Rescue to Pella Regional Health Center, with apparent non-life-threatening injuries. The driver stated she was sore from where her seatbelt had caught her, and she had a cut lip.

Deputy Reed says, “the seatbelt saved her life. If she had not been wearing a seatbelt, it would have been really bad.” He says no charges have been filed, and the car was totalled. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Clay Township Fire and Rescue and Knoxville Rescue all responded to the scene. Some damage was done to the corn in the field where the car came to rest.
