Area first responders spent this past Saturday morning at the landfill training for an unusual yet potentially tragic event–a wreck involving a school bus. The training was organized by the Knoxville Township Rural Fire Department, and crews from the city of Knoxville, Clay Township Fire and Rescue, and Harvey Fire were in attendance. Knoxville Township Rural Fire Chief Kenny Thompson says the training included the chain of command during an accident, triage, bus construction, and victim extrication. Bus accidents differ from car accidents in that there may be over 30 victims, many of them children.
