The view from the clock tower on the Marion County Courthouse is not something just everyone gets to experience. For the crew that is replacing the bricks and concrete floor, it’s something they’ve gotten used to. If you look closely to the northeast, you can see Pella. Members of the crew say they replaced approximately 500 bricks in the walls of the tower, and after jackhammering out a 6 inch thick concrete floor, they reinstalled a 20 by 20 foot, 4 inch thick new concrete floor, using pumper trucks. After removing layers of brick it was discovered there is more work than initially thought, and recently the Board of Supervisors approved a change order to the contract, which will push the completion date back to about mid-September.
