Picked to finish last in the Iowa Conference in the 2013-14 season, the Central men’s basketball team made it all the way to the NCAA Division III national tournament and the round of 32. However, they did not get there by just having the talent to do so. Coach Craig Douma says it was the amount of work that his seniors put in away from practice and games that trickled down to the rest of the team. Douma says it has helped him when it comes to recruiting on-campus. The five seniors that departed the program did leave some big shoes to fill, but Douma says he’s confident with the returners and the incoming freshmen that this team has a chance to almost “relive” last year.
