Approximately 120 people gathered at the dedication of Marion County’s Freedom Rock at Knoxville’s Young’s Park on Saturday.
Former Mayor Don Zoutte explained the significance of the rock to those in attendance, which includes painted images representing our veterans, Knoxville Civil War veteran and Iowa Governor William Milo Stone, and Dixie Gebhardt, designer of the Iowa Flag. The Freedom Rock Project is the result of the efforts of Ray Sorenson, an artist from Greenfield.
