The Pella Christian softball team played in an extremely memorable Class 2A regional final on Monday night against Highland. Throughout the postseason, and even during the regular season, the Eagles were looked at as underdogs. They are the only Class 2A school in a 4A conference, their record was below .500, and their stats didn’t bring much to the eye. However, a closer look shows that this team stayed competitive in a league that was dominated by heavyweights (Dallas Center-Grimes, Oskaloosa and Norwalk, primarily). Coach Karen Harrill says her girls deserve a lot of credit for how far they went, but she is still not content with the finish. The Eagles finished with a record of 16 – 19 and will lose Lauren Jungling and Lydia Bandstra from their 2014 roster.
