The City of Knoxville has partnered with The South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency and Metro Waste Authority to bring its residents the opportunity to properly dispose of household hazardous wastes, Saturday between 9 am and noon. Rick Hurt, Director of the agency, tells KNIA KRLS News that hazardous wastes include aerosol cleaners, paint, thermometers or thermostats with mercury in them; pesticides and used oil filters. He says items not accepted include latex paint, ammunition, fire extinguishers, propane tanks or cylinders or radioactive materials. You can drop off items at the Water Department offices at 600 North Roche in Knoxville.
