The Iowa State Patrol would like to remind those celebrating the 4th of July weekend to do so responsibly. Safety Education Officer Doug Cutts says the best way to keep yourself and others safe on the road is to plan the safe way home before celebrations begin. Designate a sober driver, call a sober friend or family member, or use a taxi if you plan to drink. If you notice an impaired driver, call 911 and alert officers. Extra officers will be out this weekend watching for distracted, speeding, and impaired drivers on the roads and in the water.
