Knoxville and Pella split their Little Hawkeye Conference season ender last night in softball. The Lady Dutch got the win in the first game 5-0 as Elyse Sadler got the win scattering six hits and striking out six. The game was highlighted by Alexa Dingeman’s three run homer in the second. Delannye South took the loss for Knoxville. In the nightcap Knoxville again fell behind but it was short lived as the Panthers got an R-B-I double by Ricky Hall followed by Taylor Carter batting in hall to make it 2-1. The Panthers would score two more in the fifth and three more in the sixth to pull away and win 7-2. After the evening of softball Knoxville Coach Steph Christner told KNIA/KRLS with some lineup changes…the girls played well in both games. Pella Coach Krista DeMeulenare told KNIA/KRLS Sports she was proud of how her team played all night especially fighting back late in game two. Emily Wallace got the win for Knoxville allowing two runs on six hits walking one and striking out four while Alexa Dingeman took the loss going four innings giving up four runs on eight hits. Knoxville closes the regular season at 13-16-1 and closes its final season in Little Hawkeye Conference play at 10-10-1 while Pella is 10-20 and finishes 6-14 in conference play. Both teams begin regional action tomorrow.
