When Knoxville High School announced this past fall that the athletic teams would move to the South Central Conference, many fans started to think what sport would the South Central be the most competitive in.One sport that came to the top was baseball. The S-C-C has sent Davis County, Chariton, and Albia to the state tournament in past seasons. Knoxville’s entrance will also renew some rivalries of seasons gone by. Coach Joel Johnson tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he is looking forward to getting back to those towns, and knows they have not changed. Knoxville will join Albia, Chariton, Centerville, Davis County, Eddyville-Blakesburg, and Clarke next season as conference opponents. Johnson says all of the Little Hawkeye Conference teams except for Norwalk have expressed interest in keeping the Panthers on their schedules as non-conference.
