The City of Knoxville has an ordinance that states grass cannot be higher than 8 inches. Assistant City Manager, Dylan Feik says once a problem is identified, the city will notify the property owner that they have 48 hours to mow. If they don’t, the City will take care of the mowing and bill the property owner the cost of that service plus an administrative fee.He adds that the ordinance also states once the property owner has been notified, if the problem occurs again within 12 calendar months, the code will be enforced immediately, with no 48 hour notice. Feik says if you know of a property that has excessive weed height, to contact the City. At this week’s council meeting, an annual contract was approved, with Gotta Enterprises, for mowing services.
