The Pella baseball team held off a late surge by Norwalk to win 8 – 5 in a conference clash on Wednesday. The Little Dutch were up 8 – 1 before the Warriors made it a game in the sixth. Adam Carey threw five-and-a-third great innings and left with that big lead. Austin Titman got the save by closing out the sixth and retiring the Warriors in order in the seventh. The 3-6 hitters for Pella went 7-for-13 at the plate with seven RBI’s. Titman and Marcus Wittmer each had three RBI’s for Pella. Over on the softball diamond, the Lady Dutch dropped a 4 – 0 decision to the Warriors. Coach Krista DeMeulenaere says her team played well. Elyse Sadler gave up five hits on the mound and took the loss. Sara Tallman and Sierra Williams each had a hit for Pella’s girls, who are now 7 – 19 on the season. The baseball team improves to 18 – 9. The boys are in Knoxville and girls take on Pella Christian tonight. You can hear the softball contest live on 92.1 KRLS and on KNIAKRLS.com.
