Heading into this past Saturday’s state tournament opener, the 4-5-6 hitters for Twin Cedars’ baseball team had been mired in a mini-slump. Corey Harrell and Hunter Embray each were 2-for-10, while Brent Parker was still seeing the ball well at 5-for-12. The biggest question for the Sabers was if those big bats would wake up when they needed them to. The answer was a resounding, “Yes.” Harrell went 2-for-4 with four RBI’s, Embray and Parker each were 2-for-3 with an RBI to go a combined 6-for-10 at the plate in the 7 – 0 victory. Coach Matt Miller says for Harrell, it was a big spot for him to step up. Tomorrow, the Sabers enter the semifinals against Gehlen Catholic, the number five ranked team in the state with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
