A slow first two innings led to a ramped up intensity in the final three frames as Knoxville baseball toppled Pella Christian last night, 11 – 1 in five. Dillon Branderhorst hit a two-out RBI double to score the Eagles’ lone run in the second, before the Panthers struck for four hits in four pitches in the bottom of the third, capped off by a two-run blast by Jared McClung over the left-centerfield fence. Knoxville would plate six in the fifth without recording an out to end the game early. Knoxville is now 16 – 10 on the season while the Eagles drop to 8 – 18. Pella Christian plays two with Dallas Center-Grimes tonight while the Panthers are at home with a pair against visiting Pella High. You can hear the nightcap of the doubleheader live on AM 1320 and FM 95.3 KNIA with Derek Cardwell on the call. Pregame coverage starts at around 7:15 p.m. with first pitch at 7:30.
