Oh, if only Wile E. Coyote could take a few pointers from the PCM softball team. The Mustangs downed I-35 and the Roadrunners, 11 – 1 last night in the Class 3A regional semifinals. Rachael Freland was again the winning pitcher for PCM, scattering three hits and allowing an earned run. Jayci Vos, Kayla Jennings and MacKenna Van Veen were each 2-for-4 with a stolen base, and Abbi Gilson hit a grand slam and drove in a total of six runs at the dish. The Mustangs have rattled off ten straight wins and sit at 22 – 7. They will battle West Burlington – Notre Dame in Ottumwa on Monday night in the Class 3A regional finals with a ticket to Fort Dodge waiting to be punched for either school.
