Pella High Looking for Second Ever State Tournament Berth Tonight

In just his second season at the helm of the Pella High baseball team, Coach Jesse Jablonski already has his guys soaring to new heights. Tonight, the Little Dutch will take on new conference foe, Dallas Center – Grimes, in the Class 3A Substate 7 final, with a trip to Principal Park and the state tournament waiting for one of them. The pitching match-up should be a good one, pitting Cole Baker for the Mustangs against Grant Judkins. Baker is 1 – 1 against Pella, though he only pitched one inning in the loss. The junior has thrown a total of eight innings against the Dutch, striking out 13 while allowing just four hits. Judkins was roughed up in a 5 – 1 loss way back on June 6, giving up nine hits in six innings. Many things have changed since their last meeting, and Coach Jablonski says both teams come in to tonight very evenly matched. Tonight’s game can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS and online at KNIAKRLS.com with Cory Houser and Marcus Johnson up in Saydel for the call. Pregame starts at around 6:45 p.m. with first pitch at seven.
