Two very, very good baseball teams in our area begin district tournament play tonight at two different sites. For Twin Cedars, they finished the regular season undefeated, and were the resounding Bluegrass Conference champions. For the seniors, it’s a journey over the last four years that has taken them so far, and this season, they hope it takes them all the way to the top. The Sabers will play host to Moulton-Udell, a squad they handled 10 – 0 in six innings back in very early June. Coach Matt Miller says though there is a bigger buzz in the locker room come playoff time, his guys still have their eyes trained on the prize. Over in Pleasantville, the Trojans ended the regular season with an impressive mark of 23 – 7, and will hope their strong pitching and dynamic offense can carry them to great heights over the next week. Coach Sheldon Card doesn’t know much about Mormon Trail, their first round opponent, but says jumping on them early will be a key. The Trojans play first at Central Decatur at 5:00 p.m., while the Sabers’ first pitch is scheduled for seven.
