Red Rock Lake Association President Matt Kissinger tells KNIA KRLS News that local balloonists wanted to have an event over Lake Red Rock, which is Iowa’s largest lake. Melinda O’Field, with the Knoxville Chamber, says that the pilots don’t get to fly over water often, and this area makes very nice scenery for anyone up in the balloons. Kissinger says this is a competition for some of the pilots, who are trying to get to the Balloon Nationals. They score points by dropping bean bags onto targets set around the area. Kissinger says the event is very dependent on the weather as well, especially the wind. We’ll have more from Kissinger and O’Field on Let’s Talk Knoxville.
