The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum will undergo an expansion soon. Executive Director Bob Baker addressed this week’s City Council meeting, and said that of the $1.8 million needed, they’ve raised just over $1.2 million. He said they will be seeking a $700,000 grant from Vision Iowa, which will complete their fundraising. He said one thing that is required by Vision Iowa is proof that the city and the county are supportive of the project, so Baker was asking Council for a letter showing that support. The Council agreed to the request, with the addition of a $2000 gift towards the project. Assistant City Manager Dylan Feik said City staff will draft the letter so Mayor Brian Hatch can sign it, and present that to Baker.
