A US Geological Survey team was in Marion County this week checking the status of river depth monitoring equipment. Gauges were checked on Whitebreast near Melcher Dallas, on English Creek, south of Knoxville, at Tracy, and at Cedar Creek near Bussey.

The crew told KNIA/KRLS news that the equipment at Cedar Creek had been damaged by ice over the winter, and that repairs were made. Jason McVay and Amy Donnelly with the USGS say River monitoring in Marion County is important for a variety of reasons, including helping the US Corp of Engineers manage the level of water levels in Lake Red Rock to help prevent flooding downstream.
