The crack of the bat of Marcus Wittmer, whose clutch RBI double in the bottom of the seventh fueled Pella High’s baseball team to a 1 – 0 win over Grinnell in the Class 3A district tournament opener last night. The pitcher’s duel of Eli Dunne and Grant Judkins took just over an hour to complete, as both teams combined for four hits and three walks. Each team had chances to score throughout, and both schools stranded four runners on base. Coach Jesse Jablonski was elated after the game. The Little Dutch improve to 25 – 13 on the season and they head to the district final on Monday night, back in Saydel to face the Eagles, who walked off on Carlisle, 5 – 4.
