A Jasper County woman is recovering after numerous police agencies searched for and eventually rescued her from a pond on Wednesday. At 11:54 a.m., a southern Jasper County resident called 911 after a woman entered the home and claimed she was suffering from a heart attack. The woman then fled the home after Jasper County Deputies and Sully Fire and EMS responded to that area. At 12:02, a second caller notified police that a suspicious vehicle drove through their yard and into a bean field and the driver was dumping items from the car. A Code Red alert was sent out to residents after the same vehicle was spotted at a residence on Highway T22 South in Southern Jasper County. Additional law enforcement and a canine unit were called in to locate a female subject and she was found at 1:36 p.m. The female then ran into a pond and had to be rescued by police. The woman was suffering from a medical condition and was transported by Sully EMS to an area hospital. Members of the Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DOT Prairie City, Monroe, and Newton Police Departments, and the Newton and Sully Fire Departments all participated in the search. No charges have been filed.
