Marshalltown made quick work of Pella Christian’s volleyball team in last night’s 2014 season opener, winning in straight sets, 25 – 22, 25 – 14, and 25 – 21. Errors plagued the Eagles throughout the match as they had trouble with their serve-receive. Coach Cindy Nikkel had a mixed review of her team’s first match. Andrea Horstman had seven kills to lead the Eagles and Rebecca Gritters had six. Abby Pleima had two service aces. The Eagles begin the season 0 – 1 and have some more tough competition on their hands this weekend when they head to Ames for tournament play.
