The Pella City Council has already started to work on ideas from the comprehensive plan they approved Tuesday.

There was extensive discussion about a zoning ordinance in regards to twin homes that would change the city code to allow those two-family homes to be an allowable use of residential land. City Administrator Mike Nardini says the intention is to allow owners to split ownership for duplexes and to create more options for housing. Diversifying housing options is one of the main components of the comprehensive plan. A second reading of the ordinance is scheduled for the next regular City Council meeting on September 2nd. We have more about the ordinance and this week’s council meeting on Let’s Talk Pella.
