Senior kicker for the Central football team, Kevin Sheldon, is on a preseason “watch list’ for the Fred Mitchell Award. Sheldon is one out of 36 players named to a list from NCAA Divisions I – III, including NAIA and junior colleges, and is the only Iowa Conference kicker nominated. The Fred Mitchell Award is given annually to the country’s top kicker among well over 700 college programs. Sheldon was second among kickers in scoring last year within the league with 59 points and is 101-for-103 in extra-point attempts for his career. Central’s football season kicks off on September 6.
