The Pella Christian Eagles were able to open up their season with a 44 to 30 victory over rival PCM. It was starting quarterback and linebacker David Kacmarynski who led the way for the Eagles after his early fumble recovery set the tone early in the first quarter. He finished the night with 180 yards passing, 96 yards rushing, and a passing and rushing touchdown. Assistant Coach Darryl De Ruiter says that’s a product of his offseason training. Logan Gillman threw for 362 yards, which is over half of what he compiled last season to go along with three touchdowns. Mustangs’ coach, Greg Bonnett was pleased with how his team battled against the Eagles. The Eagles move to 1-0 on the season and will face Lynnville-Sully at home next Friday, while the Mustangs are 0 – 1 and will take on Central Decatur.
