Two teams that are radically different from a year ago, Melcher-Dallas and Twin Cedars begin play in 2014 tonight in two separate locations. The Saints are ranked in various polls in the state of Iowa due to the sheer number of juniors they had last year that are back for their senior year this season, including quarterback Alex Mitchell and running back Jacob Hoch. Melcher-Dallas is on the road to take on Colo-Nesco this evening. Over in Bussey, Twin Cedars is fresh off of a Class 1A state baseball championship, but they had to say goodbye to several of those seniors that made not just their hardball team successful, but many of their other sports, including football, flourish, too. The Sabers will host former 11-man school, English Valleys. Both games are scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off.
