Michael Fitzgerald

Iowans can get more money in their pockets with a pair of programs State Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald talked about during a recent visit to the Marion County Democratic Headquarters in Knoxville.

Fitzgerald encouraged citizens to participate the Great Iowa Treasure Hunt which allows people to look up their name and see if they have any unclaimed property through the state.

“We’re holding $185 million dollars for almost a million names out there,” Fitzgerald told KNIA/KRLS News.

Fitzgerald also says investing in College Savings Iowa is a great way to save money for a child’s education.

“Our kids, our grandkids, they’re facing huge expenses to go to college. This is a way to help families save for college.”
