Heat Index

Area schools are reminding parents of the impact heat has during the first few weeks of school.

Temperatures today are expected to top 90 degrees with heat index values approaching 100. Numerous buildings throughout area school districts do not have air conditioning. Superintendent Greg Ebeling in Pella says that when heat index values top 100 degrees, school will dismiss early at Pella Community Schools. Officials at Knoxville Community Schools report the information to KNIA/KRLS as early as possible. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for the latest school cancellation, delay, and early dismissal information.
