A person can become a hero at any moment.

That moment came last week for Rich Marshall and Travis Cram who saved the life of Lee Franck after he became pinned under his mower on a rarely used road in Marion County. Marshall and his wife Nancy first came upon the scene. Rich went down into the ditch to check out the situation while Nancy called 9-1-1.

Marshall told KNIA/KRLS News he feared for Franck’s life and told him, “You’re not gonna die! I’m not gonna let you die!’”

Marshall wasn’t able to lift the 650 lb. mower off of Franck by himself. That’s when Cram saw Marshall waving for help while he was driving by.

“We gave it one try and couldn’t hardly budge it,” Cram later recalled. “We adjusted a little bit and finally got the mower to move.”

“I was a little concerned that we might make him worse by rolling the mower or doing something. But we knew we couldn’t leave him like that.”

Franck survived the accident thanks to the neighborly help of Marshall and Cram.
