The Knoxville City Council decided to amend the parking right-of-way rules for some area businesses who make a request for a special parking permit that will be reviewed by both the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Council.

City Manager Harold Stewart discussed the decision.

“It’s an effort by staff to be supportive and find ways to help businesses accomplish what they need to meet their needs but do it in a way that’s fair for everybody.”

The request for the special parking permits came from area funeral homes and mortuaries who needed the expanded parking for services.
