Knoxville Woman, Pleasantville Man Among Big Winners At State Fair

Who says chickens can’t fly?

Knoxville’s Heidi Smith sent one airborne 59-feet to win the blue ribbon in the Ladies Rubber Chicken Throwing Contest at this year’s Iowa State Fair.

Hagen Fouch of Pleasantville captured the highly coveted Grand Champion Market Steer banner at the 4-H Market Beef Show.

Other area winners from the state fair include Julie Peterson of Knoxville who won the Desserts division of the Gracefully Gluten Free contest, Kathryn Hollingsworth of Pleasantville for Crochet – Doily division of the Fabric and Threads contest, and Benjamin Wicks and Kyla Mesecher, both from Pleasantville, for the Flower Power – B and the Flower Garden – B divisions respectively, of the Floriculture competition.
