The returners have had roughly nine months to stew on how the 2013 Pella High football season ended. On their home turf on November 8, the Little Dutch fell to Washington, 28 – 0, a game away from playing in the comforts of the UNI-Dome in the Class 3A state semifinals. Both teams will look entirely different coming into play tonight. The Demons have a new head coach, they don’t have the talented Alex Coker at running back, and they’ve lost some key players on both sides of the ball. The Little Dutch had to depart with Nathan Clayberg, Lukas Steenhoek and Ben Konfrst, just to name a few of the main pieces of the puzzle that left at the close of the school year. Coach Jay McKinstrey says flubs will be had with the first game of the season, but it’ll be up to his team to make sure there aren’t that many. You can hear tonight’s Week One game live on 92.1 KRLS and online at KNIAKRLS.com with Cory Houser and Randy Sikkema on the call in Washington. Pregame coverage starts at 7:00 p.m. with kick-off at 7:30.
