A Knoxville man was crowned ‘King Of Checkers’ at this year’s Iowa State Fair.

Robert Crozier won the Adult Checkers competition.

But he wasn’t the only area player to show championship prowess on the checkerboard.

In the 13 to 18-year-old division, 15-year-old Drew Johnson of Monroe nabbed first place while 15-year-old Autumn Wright of Knoxville took second place honors.

Other area winners from this year’s state fair include Still Water Fiber Farm of Pleasantville, who won Champion Overall in the Wool Show, Pleasantville’s Cecelia Mesecher won in the Semi division’s 11 and up group for the 4 X 4 Stomper Pull contest, and Richard Mesecher of Pleasantville earned Best Use of the State Fair Theme in the Campground Lighting contest.
