Pella Regional Health Center is earning a national designation that less than 100 hospitals in the country receive. They earned Pathway to Excellence designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, which is earned by health care organizations that create work environments where nurses flourish. Chief Nursing Officer Yvonne O’Brien Evans says the hospital has to meet and document twelve standards to receive this recognition. She says the ultimate goal is to improve the quality of nursing at Pella Regional, which in turn, increases the quality of care nurses provide to patients. In 2011, Pella Regional was the first hospital in the state to receive this recognition.
