The Pella Christian softball team was very close to heading to Fort Dodge for the first time in over 20 years this season. Entering the postseason, the Eagles were a 14 – 18 team after playing a grueling Little Hawkeye Conference schedule comprised of three ranked teams that all made it to the Class 4A state tournament. Obviously, playing those clubs did nothing but help Coach Karen Harrill’s Eagles come playoff time. She says a win over Highland would have been the epitome of their season as far as how their opponents perceived them. Pella Christian fell 11 – 10 to Highland in the regional final in the bottom of the seventh, after being down by seven entering the inning. The Eagles’ tying run was thrown out trying to score from second on a base hit.
