Park rangers and law enforcement officials have safety tips for those who plan to be on a boat Labor Day Weekend.
The Corps of Engineers say to wear a life jacket while boating, sailing, swimming, or fishing. They add that jackets come in a wide variety of colors, shapes, and sizes, so find one that fits properly before leaving shore. Officials are also encouraging boaters to stay sober as they operate boats this holiday weekend. Park ranger Tracy Spry says alcohol will impair the operation of any vehicle–on land or water. She says the wind and sun can also wear a person out while drinking and that can also impair behavior.
