Josh Osborn had it working and the Central defense, though young, still came up big at key spots, and the Dutch took down Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois on Saturday night, 31 – 7. Osborn ran for 116 yards, though 108 of them came in the first half, to go along with a touchdown. Quarterback Aaron Eiseler was injured following an interception in the first half and did not return. The game was tied at seven in the second quarter, when Jacob Edleman came up with a huge pick six to give Central the lead they would not relinquish. With the score 17 – 7 in favor of the Dutch early in the fourth quarter, a seemingly endless drive for the Eagles culminated in a field goal attempt, which, much like most of the 2013 season’s attempts against Central, was blocked by the Dutch, putting the final nail in the coffin. The Dutch start the season 1 – 0 and they will head home for a rare night game at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium this Saturday against Monmouth College.
