To put it kindly, Central got the job done against Maranatha Baptist on Saturday afternoon at Ron & Joyce Schipper Stadium, 65 – 12. Central blocked a punt in the end zone 64 seconds in for a safety, and then on their first offensive play from scrimmage, Josh Osborn ran through several tackles on his way to a 62-yard touchdown scamper that set the tone for the entire game. The reserves were in and the first half wasn’t even close to being over after the Dutch got out to a 44 – 0 lead early in the second period, 37 of those coming in the first quarter, which is a school-record. Central scored two touchdowns within five seconds, also a school record. Osborn ran 19 yards for a score, before Nick Henry intercepted a pass on the next play and found paydirt from 24 yards out. Osborn ended up with 126 yards and three touchdowns, Aaron Eiseler was the starting quarterback and was 5-for-6 passing for 69 yards and a score. Central ends non-conference play 2 – 1 and they are on a bye week this Saturday, giving them ample time to prepare for a huge conference opener against Wartburg on October 4.
