The Central women’s soccer team was anxious to get their season underway, and they did so with a bang, demolishing Minnesota – Morris 4 – 0 this weekend. Emily Saville had two goals in the first 29 minutes, and the Dutch added goals from freshman Felicia Roppe, and senior Emily Benson. The Central men were on the wrong side of a double overtime penalty kick, falling 1 – 0 to Morris. The penalty kick was the Cougars’ only shot on goal, as the Dutch held a 24 – 6 advantage in total shots. Central’s women are 1 – 0 while the men are at 0 – 2. Central’s men are at home next on Tuesday to host Monmouth, and the women play at home on Monday against Washington out of St. Louis.
