The final artistic expression celebrating the Des Moines River Corridor and Horn’s Ferry Observation area is now complete.

Marion County Naturalist Marla Mertz tells KNIA/KRLS News that the final silhouette was set this week and features an interactive design. She says the sculpture adds a nice setting for families and youth visiting the bridge area, creating conversation and interaction, and that the characteristics of the birds that can be viewed on the river are captured. The Marion County Conservation Board was awarded $2,000 from a Marion County Community Foundation grant and proceeded to work with artist James Washington, who donated the final silhouette and dedication plaque.
