Downpour after downpour pummeled Marion County and most of southern Iowa Tuesday night and this morning. More than 2.95 inches of rain fell in Pella and 2.76 inches in Knoxville during the storms that started during the afternoon hours on Tuesday. A Flash Flood Warning was issued at approximately 6:45 p.m. Tuesday night for many area counties and expired just after 6:30 a.m. today. A flood warning remains in effect for area rivers and streams until 6:15 this evening. Wet weather leaving the area gives way to cooler temperatures later this week, with highs topping out in the upper 50s on Thursday and Friday and overnight lows dipping down to the mid to upper 30s on Friday night.
