The Historic Pella Trust is celebrating their 20th anniversary next week.

The evening full of events coincides with their 2014 Annual Meeting, and starts on Thursday, September 11th at the Pella Opera House. They will be hosting free tours of the Collegiate Historic District at 4, 4:30, and 5 p.m. A buffet will be served from 5:45 to 7 p.m. at the Ballroom of the Opera House and costs $15 per person. An evening program starts at 7 p.m. that includes the 2014 Restoration Awards and Architectural Significance Awards, “Pella’s Past in Postcards,” and updates about three ongoing projects. An evening program will begin at 7:00 pm in the Pella Opera House theatre. The 2014 Restoration Awards and Architectural Significance Awards will be presented to local property owners. Bruce Boertje will be presenting “Pella’s Past in Postcards” featuring his collection of historic Pella postcards. Wayne Stienstra will share updates from on the restoration of 1110 Washington. Will Page, Des Moines historian, will share updates on the Collegiate Historic District and the Tuttle Log House, including the nomination of the Log House to the National Register of Historic Places. The evening program is free and open to the public.

A drawing will be held for a quilt commemorating the 20th features 10 historic Pella properties. Quilt fundraiser tickets are $1 per ticket or 10 tickets for $10.
