Family members, friends, even strangers are gathering to help a Marion County Farmer.

With harvest about to get underway for his 12-acre pumpking crop, John Hoyt found himself hospitalized then rehabbing in a nursing home for a total of 14-weeks. That’s when about 100 of people stepped up to help out Hoyt and harvest his farm while he recovers.

“I’ve had a lot of people I didn’t know have came out from different friends and to help and stuff and it’s really helped a lot,” Hoyt told KNIA/KRLS News.

Still more work needs to be done picking pumpkins at Hoyt’s farm, located a few miles southwest of Knoxville. The pumpkins he’s harvesting will be taken to Drakesville for a produce auction.
