A series of motor vehicle burglaries has the Knoxville Police Department urging drivers to secure their vehicles.

Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says car break-ins are one of the most preventable crimes. He says people need to remove valuable items from their vehicles or hide them out of plain sight. Losada adds that you should also lock your car doors, even if you’re only stepping away from your vehicle briefly.

Knoxville Police have begun cases on at least four separate motor vehicle burglaries over the past week.
