As part of National Emergency Preparedness Month, Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson tells citizens the first thing they should do first should an emergency occur is go to their plan.
“Your plan’s gonna talk about what your family should do in the first half an hour,” Anderson told KNIA/KRLS News. “Do you have clothing? Do you have medicines? Do you have food? You know, what are you gonna do for shelter? How are you going to communicate with the extended family to let them know that you’re okay? You know, those kinds of things.”
Anderson also recommends ensuring you have supplies on hand, such as food and water, and writing down important phone numbers and keeping them in a safe place in case there’s a problem with accessing your cell phone.
