When the lights went on in Pella at halftime of Saturday night’s football game between Central College and Monmouth, a switch seemingly flipped inside the visitors as well, as the Scots erased a 21-7 deficit with 21 unanswered points to earn a 28-21 victory. Central scored touchdowns on its first three drives to build its lead, but the offense sputtered and the defense wore down against Monmouth’s mammoth offensive line. The Scots rolled up 261 yards of offense in the second half, including 192 on the ground as they dropped the Dutch to 1-1 on the season. Central gets it final non-conference tuneup next Saturday against Maranatha Baptist of Wisconsin. It’s the first afternoon game of the season, with a traditional 1:00 kickoff, and you can hear it live on KRLS.
