The Pella Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in a program today aimed at allowing residents to safely dispose of prescription drugs. Lt. Paul Haase says that this drug take back is a chance to drop off any expired or unused prescription drugs free of charge. Only pills and other solids, like patches, can be brought to the collection sites, as liquids and needles or other sharp objects will not be accepted. Officers will be accepting drop offs at the Pella Walmart and at Medicap Pharmacy in Knoxville from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday as a part of a Drug Enforcement Agency nationwide drug take back.
