Parked Cars

After a recent string of car thefts in the area, the Pella Police Department is encouraging residents to be vigilant in preventing future thefts. They say to avoid leaving keys in a vehicle, especially in the ignition, to lock the doors and leave windows rolled up, activate alarms, place valuables in the trunk, and know the license number, make, and model of the vehicle. Police say there are three elements of crime: desire, opportunity, and ability, and say by eliminating opportunity, residents can help reduce the crimes.

Pella Police add to keep purses, electronic devices and other valuables out of sight. Do not leave money, checkbooks, or credit cards in the vehicle at any time. They add to park in a well lit and non secluded area.
